Juniors Journal: City Tournament Updates

Well, it has been a frenzy of baseball at Alto since the end of the regular season. The City Championship has now been set with the Cardinals taking on the Giants on June 1st starting at 10:30AM!

In fact, bookmark June 1st now. Immediately following the game, there will be an All-Juniors Ceremony to present the Sword of Alto, O’Dogg’s, Juniors Season Awards, Tournament Teams, and then our first MVLL Graduation for the 14Us all 36 and Parents. All of this will be ongoing with an All-Juniors Picnic!

Post-Season Notes

Cardinals 10 | Orioles 6 - a close game throughout that turned on an awkward foul tip that sent Will Weir for medical attention

Mets 7 | Red Sox 6 - high drama as the game ended with the potential winning run doubled off second base on a stellar play by the ubiquitous Liam Winn.

Cardinals 13 | Pirates 5 - close into the 6th before the Cards pulled away on a cold damp evening punctuated by an absolute monster HR by Pirates’ James Cerchiai in defeat.

Giants 4 | Mets 1 - the Giants defense and stellar pressure performance on the mound by Jacob DiPippa to lock down the closest game of the tournament.

Red Sox 6 | Pirates 0 - Miller Weir pitched a complete game shutout with support from the Sox best defense of the season and Ari Baker’s hot bat to eliminate regular season champs Pirates.

Mets 12 | Orioles 6 - a game that featured 11 pitchers and one rough inning for the O’s who bowed out of the tournament next.

Cardinals 12 | Giants 3 - the Cards found holes in the normally sound Giants defense and it is now no secret that closer Tommy Strong appears to be the gatekeeper to the Sword of Alto.  Cardinals advance to City Championship.

Red Sox 9 | Mets 0 - the Sox notched their second straight shutout with Heath Hochanadel catching every inning of both games. Mets free to book vacations to Cancun.

Giants 16 | Red Sox 1 - the Giants Aces ended the Red Sox hot streak on an absolutely gorgeous night at Alto that featured a near Grand Slam by Giants’ Tomas Wolf as they secured the final spot in the City Championship.
