Opening Day at Boyle!

AAA

Grays 4 A's 4 (tie) 5 innings

Both teams rolled out multiple pitchers in their first game of the season - Ethan Gruber, Eli James, Trent Fontaine, and Ella Bea Blitzer for the A's while the Grays called on Grant Maddex, Bode Fiedler, Graham McPadden, Dalton Miyasato, Dominic Palmer, and Tristan Ryan. The A's were led on defense by second baseman Trent Fontaine who made a circus catch in right field to rob the A's of a base hit. Eli James led the A's offense with two hits. The Grays were buoyed by a double play by pitcher Graham McPadden and a two RBI single by Warren Koch.

Rangers 4 Giants 0, 4 innings

The Rangers were led by first time pitchers, John Aoki, Will Turkovich, and John Beacock who each hurled shutout innings. Adam James and Ben Seidel of the Giants pitched shutout innings for the Giants. The Rangers had a balanced scoring attack with four of their top five hitters scoring runs. John John Beacock came in to close the game out with a clutch save.

Reds 1 Cardinals 1 (tie)

A pitching duel between the Reds and Cardinals ended in a 1-1 tie. The Cardinals were led by Zeke Kinsey who struck out four batters over two innings. Brody Yokell., drove in the first run of the game with the Cardinals lone hit in the fourth inning. Chase Hall kept the Reds in the ballgame with two scoreless innings and striking out four. The Reds rallied in the bottom of the fifth loading the bases eventually tying the game when Cameron Briggs drew a two out walk. Nile Meleis for Cardinals came in to face one Reds batter and managed to close out the game with a strikeout preserving the 1-1 tie.

Minors

Tigers 11 Mariners 3

Grey Robinson started the season strong pitching two scoreless innings and hitting a grand slam in leading the Tigers to an 11-3 win over the Mariners. Valentino Papele added a two run double as the Tigers' offensive firepower was too much to for the Mariners in each teams's debut Minors' debut. Declan Mcateer pitched a scoreless third inning for the Tigers. The Mariners were led by pitchers Liam Pirrone, Wales Davison and Henry Cheen striking out eight batters collectively. Liam Pirrone also collected a hit and an RBI as the Mariners fall to 0-1.

Marlins 5 Pirates 5 (tie)

Eben Sykes led the Marlins with a double and four RBIs. Raidan Fernandez got his season off to a great start going two for two at the plate and closing the game from the mound with the Pirates rallying. The Marlins demonstrated patience and discipline at the plate, collecting eight walks. The Marlins stole ten bases led by Raidan Fernandez with three. Otto Fackler led a balanced Pirates offense with two hits and an RBI. Pirates starter, Stefen Sigg pitched two solid innings striking out five Marlins.

Giants 8, Padres 8, 5 innings (tie)

On Opening Day, in a back and forth affair, the Padres jumped out to an early five run lead in the top of the first, but the Giants clawed back and tied the game with four runs in the bottom of the last inning. George Quist and Theodore Zukoski led the Padres with two hits each and Dylan Pluskowski had two RBI's. Doyle Kazul led the Giants with three runs scored and six stolen bases. Luca Nelson and Parker Caselli both collected RBIs, and Doc Davis started an impressive double play catching a line drive back to the pitcher.

Majors

Red Sox 4 Yankees 0

The Red Sox pitching staff led by Henry Ellis, who struck out six over two innings, combined to no-hit the Yankees in the season opener. Paxton King also has solid outing striking out three. Offensively the Red Sox were led by Ellis' two hits and one hit each by King and Tate Shackelton. The Red Sox showed their prowess on the base paths, stealing a total of seven bases. The Yankees were led by Max Vareede who pitched two scoreless innings.

Brewers 1 Phillies 0

Pitching and defense were in top form for this Opening Day game between the Phillies and the Brewers. Four Brewers pitchers combined to give up zero runs on the day. Starter Ryan Lynch started and reliever Holden Ryan each pitched two scoreless innings recording 4 strikeouts. Ezra Pope-Meyer pitched a solid fifth inning and Cody Chittenden came in and got the save.

The Phillies pitching nearly matched the Brewers stellar pitching not allowing a walk. Jordan Miller recorded three strikeouts over the first two innings followed by Jack Devlin pitching two scoreless innings of no hit baseball and Matthew Cao nearly pitching and immaculate inning of pitching with three strikeouts in only ten pitches.

Jack Devlin recorded the Phillies only hit, a single in the top of the first inning. Henry Lee had two Stolen Bases for the Phillies in the loss.

The difference in the game were the three hits by the Brewers. Cody Chittenden led off the game with a hit, two stolen bases and then made it home by Alex Meleis's single. Lennon Oldknow also contributed with a hit.

The web gem of the day goes to Jordan Miller who tracked down a major league fly ball at the fence hit by Alex Meleis.

Sea Lions 2 Giants 1

In a clean defensive battle, the Sea Lions edged the Giants 2-1. Wyatt Droege drove in Lyle Feldman in the top of the first for the Giants and the Sea Lions matched it in the bottom half when Owen Benford drove in Liam Koss. In the top of the fourth the game was highlighted by a thirteen pitch battle between Ricky Ames and Wyatt Droege that including nine foul balls. In the bottom of the fourth, the Sea Lions' Owen Benford got his second RBI of the day when he drove in Ricky Ames for the game winning hit.
